Presentation

EAI (“in English, Educational Artificial Intelligence”) + IC (“in English, International Congress”) make up ICEAI,

a congress whose first edition will be held in December 2024 at the University of Alicante, giving rise to

ICEAI 2024: I International Congress on Educational Artificial Intelligence.

This is the first international congress under this name, and with it we want to focus attention on the concept of Educational Artificial Intelligence.

The fact is that in recent years, several initiatives have emerged that explore the potential of this EAI. Although these experiences are still in their early stages, it is clear that EAI has the potential to revolutionize teaching and learning. However, to harness its benefits effectively, it is essential that we reflect and prepare ourselves on how to integrate it properly. We must not only focus on technological applications, but also on key issues such as teacher training, respect for privacy and equity in access to these tools. Therefore, meetings like this one, dedicated to EAI, are essential to share knowledge, discuss challenges and build a more solid and ethical educational future.

The I International Congress on Educational Artificial Intelligence (ICEAI 2024) arises as a response to the pressing need to discuss and analyze these critical issues in the field of Education. The theme of this edition, “Cognition and Emotion through Educational Artificial Intelligence”, is linked to advanced technology to revolutionize the way we learn.

Not only is it an opportunity to keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in the application of AI, but it also fosters an essential dialogue on how we can guide the evolution of AI to ensure that its benefits are maximized and its risks minimized when it comes to Education. It is crucial that we collectively understand how AI can be used to empower rather than limit, to include rather than exclude, thus ensuring a future that reflects our shared values and common aspirations.

ICEAI 2024 stems from the MEEBAI Project: A Methodology for Emotion-Aware Education Based on Artificial Intelligence. The funding entity is the Generalitat Valenciana, Conselleria d’Innovació, Universitats, Ciència i Societat Digital, Direcció General de Ciència i Investigació (convocatoria DOGV núm. 8919 / 05.10.2020), Project reference: CIPROM/2021/017.

The MEEBAI project is led by Profs. Miguel Cazorla and Rosabel Roig Vila, Professors at the University of Alicante and directors of the research groups Robotics & Tridimensional Vision Research Group (RoViT)Interdisciplinary Research in University Teaching – Education and Information and Communication Technologies / Inclusive Education (GIDU-EDUTIC/IN), respectively.

Objective

The main objective of ICEAI 2024 is to provide a space for reflection on the possibilities offered by Educational Artificial Intelligence.

During this meeting, researchers from the fields of computer science, psychology and education will share their knowledge and experiences on how the application of technological systems can be key to empower learning spaces.

Participants will be able to explore a wide range of initiatives. In addition to expert presentations, there will be space for interaction and discussion. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and network with other professionals, researchers and people interested in this field.

In addition, there will be the opportunity to participate as speakers in the scheduled paper sessions. Contributions received will be evaluated by double peer review and those accepted will be included in the conference program.

In short, this conference is a space where we aim to promote research, talent, learning, collaboration and innovation in the field of technology and active aging.

We look forward to seeing you and sharing this journey towards a healthier and technologically empowered future.
